The Rock CF Foundation is a 501(C)3 nonprofit corporation founded and led by cystic fibrosis (CF) patient Emily Schaller. The Rock CF Foundation is dedicated to increasing the quality of life for people with cystic fibrosis, utilizing the arts, entertainment, fashion and fitness to support research initiatives and heighten public awareness in the fight against cystic fibrosis.
Cystic fibrosis is a rare genetic disorder that causes the body to produce thick and sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and pancreas, making it hard for patients to breathe and absorb nutrients from food. This thick mucus causes recurring lung infections and loss of lung function.
The idea for Rock CF began in 2004 when Emily wanted to raise awareness in a cool way for people in the 18-35 age group. She put together a rock concert called "Just Let Me Breathe" that raised thousands of dollars for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This experience inspired her to do more and so she founded Rock CF to further empower CF patients and raise money for CF research. You can check out Emily’s full story on our blog here!
